How to Determine YOUR Skin Type

Let's discuss the dreaded skin type. All too often I come across people who have no idea, have been told something completely wrong, or are totally confused about their skin type. This is an extremely important topic, because it is imperative to what products are going to be right for you. Just because your friend uses something and swears by it, and you LOVE how her skin looks, does not mean that that particular thing is going to work the same way for you. So I am going to give you the basics to getting an idea of your skin type. This is not going into concerns, JUST the ratios of oil and water that your skin naturally produce, in order to better gauge what types of products will benefit you. And we do this with one simple question:

How would your skin feel mid-day if you were NOT to wear a moisturizer?
The following are the answers broken into skin types.

Dry/Very Dry:Your skin feels tight and uncomfortable without a moisturizer, even mid-day when oil production should have kicked in. And is most likely prone to being "flaky".
Dry/Combination:
Your skin feels slightly tight (maybe a little uncomfortable) in certain areas, and feels fine in others, i.e. the T-zone. Likely to have certain areas of "flakiness", especially during the winter.
Oily/Combination:Your skin feels completely fine mid-day even without a moisturizer, but you may experience some excess oiliness or shininess in certain areas like the T-zone.
Oily:

Your skin does not feel tight at all, and will have excess oil production or shininess even mid-morning and throughout the day.

So there it is, the basics of how to get an idea and determine your skin type. Ofcourse, there will always be outside factors that can change or contribute to skin type, such as weather, location, recent skin damage, health issues, etc. I really hope this helped any of you lovelies who may have been uncertain about what their skin type is, and what classification of products will work for you. If you have any questions, or still don't feel like you fit into any of the above categories, leave a comment, and I will get back to you!
